The English Prep Program is designed to a) upgrade applicants’ English proficiency from an intermediate level (IELTS 3) to SHML minimum entry levels for all hospitality programs, and b) to facilitate students’ integration within a foreign education environment abroad. The aims are:

Age: 16 and above Qualification: High School Diploma, A- or O-Level or equivalent local certificate, vocational school diploma English level: IELTS 3 |
Reading Skills: read short articles and progressing to read hospitality books chapters; review tenses in simple and complex sentences; review word class with focus on articles, determiners, adjectives and adverbs, including comparative and superlative forms; use of prepositions.
Grammatical Syllabus: Review of tenses in simple and complex sentences; review word class, with a focus on articles, determiners, adjectives and adverbs, including comparative and superlative forms; use of prepositions 2
Oral English skills: Focus on oral communication; oral presentations, individually and in small groups; listening exercises; dictation exercises
Task/Skills: Written forms of English: summary writing; essays (descriptive, argumentative, persuasive etc.)
Topic Syllabus: Topics will be chosen that cover a wide range of issues from the hospitality and tourism industry to encourage the expansion of vocabulary, and to enable students to write about a variety of subject areas.
CHF 6’900.- including accommodation in twin sharing double room, full board, health insurance and books & materials but excluding travel and visa costs.
