Hans Jenni, a Swiss national, started his hotel career in 1966 and is a graduate of the world famous Hotel and Management School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Mr Jenni later went on to gain valuable hotel management experience at some of the worlds leading hotel groups including a role as President of Swiss-Belhotel Management Ltd before establishing GHM.
Since founding GHM in 1992, Hans Jenni has been responsible for the development of a group of the world’s most stylish and individualistic hotel properties with a strong Asian design focus in exotic destinations around the world.

A Swiss national and graduate of Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, Mr. Sommerau is a veteran of the Asian hospitality industry, having held positions at Moevenpick Hotel International and The Peninsula Group in Hong Kong before taking up his current role as Head of Hospitality Services at The Hong Kong Jockey Club. He has actively served for many years on the Advisory Board of The School of Hotel & Tourism Management, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was honoured by the French Government as Officier de l’Ordre National du Mérite Agricole.

Onno Poortier is a stalwart hotelier with extensive international corporate business development, marketing and operational experience. He has a proven success record and recognition with global hotel groups and owners, and independent luxury hotels and resorts.
A Dutch national, fluent in five European languages, O. Poortier graduated from the Hotel School of Lucerne, Switzerland and the MBA Executive Programme at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, then pursued his career with reputed luxury hotels starting with Le Beau Rivage Palace Lausanne and the Palace Hotel Gstaad in Switzerland; and the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
O. Poortier joined The Peninsula Group in Hong Kong in 1979 and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 1985 and President from 1992 to 2000. He took charge of existing hotels and played a leading role in the group's expansion into the USA and Asia Pacific with the acquisition and development of luxury Peninsula Hotels in New York, Beverly Hills, Chicago, Beijing, and Bangkok, and initiated the negotiations of the recently opened Peninsula Hotel Tokyo. He served as Director to the Board of The Peninsula Group’s parent company, The Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels Limited from 1989 to 2000 and as Director to the Board of Peninsula International Limited from 2000 to 2005.
Between 1989 to 2006, O. Poortier served on numerous Boards. He was Chairman of the Board of The Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz and Fregate Island Private in the Seychelles; Vice Chairman in Asia Pacific of Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide and Board Director of Indecorp (holding company of PHRW now known as Preferred Hotel Group), an international consortium of over 300 independent luxury hotels and resorts which led to an interim CEO & President role in Chicago USA in 2003 and 2004. He is presently Director to the Board of Le Beau Rivage Palace Lausanne, and Non-Executive Board Member of The Emaar Hospitality Group LLC in Dubai. O. Poortier also formed Rembrandt Management Services Ltd. to provide luxury hotel consultancy management services.
As the recipient of numerous industry awards, O. Poortier was selected “Corporate Hotelier of the World” by Hotels Magazine in 1994 and was nominated “Personality of the Year” by the hotel industry in 1996. He was also voted “Foreign Hotels Person of the Year” in 1995 by Travel Agent Magazine. In January 2009, O. Poortier was awarded by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences – Five Star Diamond Award as “One of the Finest Corporate Hoteliers Worldwide”.
Claire Wellings
Head of Department of Leisure, Tourism, Hospitality and Events at the University of Gloucestershire.
Claire has lectured in tourism management since 1991, at three different Higher Education institutions, and has also worked in the events and museums sectors. She is currently an External Examiner in Germany and Greece, and is a Non-Executive Director of South West Tourism, the regional tourism body for the south west of England.
Claire’s interests are in tourism education, skills and training and in raising the profile of tourism as a positive career choice. She has worked for many years with the Association for Tourism in Higher Education, and with industry bodies such as Cheltenham Tourism Forum and the Tourism Skills Network South West.
Miguel Gispert Cerqueda
President, Genesis Hotels & Resorts
Born in Lerida, Spain , a product of the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland married a Filipina and bore 2 sons Miguel, Jr. and Marc, also Hoteliers in their own right.
From several stints in Germany, Switzerland and Spain, he started his career in the Philippines in 1971 with the Intercontinental Group prior to his joining the Manila Hotel in 1977 until 1999 holding the positions of Food & Beverage Manager, Resident Manager, General Manager, and Vice President- Operations for an international venture.
Successfully established enterprises in his personal capacities including restaurants.
In 1999, he set-up Genesis Hotels and Resorts Corporation (GHRC), a hotel and resort management company where he is the President. At present, the corporation has under its wing managed and still managing such properties as the Astoria Plaza Suites, Astoria Boracay, A. Venue Hotel , Antel Spa Hotel Suites, Bellarocca Island Resort and Spa, One Tagaytay Place, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, Hotel St, Ellis, Misibis Bay, and Midas Hotel and Casino.
As a Hotelier, he has established networks and contacts both locally and internationally.
